Beach Hotel Map – Build History (5/7)

Here, we have further home development in Palm Square, building the bulk of the rail network & the train station and extending the outskirt road & highway network.

More Home Work (not homework :P)

In March 2019, work moved back to Palm Square. The Palm Square Blue Townhouse was being built, finishing up remains that lie next to the Woody House. The design ended up being pretty different that of the other houses, with a more simple modern feel.

Following up, some plans on what to build on the southern end of Palm Square were somewhat laid out, with driveways and vegetation being laid out, but nothing else.

  • Early design of front of townhouse. Originally nothing was planned to be on top of garage.

The Underground Train Station & Rails

In May 2019, having just graduated high school, I had much more time on my hands. A spontaneous decision was made, mainly to use the leftover space in the middle of the outskirts highway zones. Plans to have rails run within the highway and to build an underground train station in one of the large empty lots in the town were made.

It started by laying rails in the southern outskirts, then digging a tunnel from there till under the town center. From there, a massive corridor was dug up and the three platforms were built, along with the passing rails and rail junctions. The elevator & stair/escalator connections to the upper terminal followed, along with platform seating.

  • Digging in center of highway in south side of town; making room for rails.

The upstairs terminal area and its connections were then built by first connecting to the platforms below, then building a tunnel to connect to the hotel parking lot’s 3rd floor below the ground (the same floor as the connecting tunnel to the hotel building). The restrooms, corner store, service desk room, and ticket stations followed.

  • Beginning of construction of upstairs terminal area.

Upon completing the terminal, the escalators connecting it to the now above-ground area were designed and built. Then, a neighboring 3-floor underground parking lot was also built, having its own elevators and stairs, connecting to the station via the ground floor and 2nd floor below.

  • Building escalators to link to surface. Direct elevators used to exist, but later were removed due to capacity constraints.

In this iteration, only the underground part of the train station was built. The above-ground part was completed much later on.

Minor Hotel Lounge Renovations

The entry road heading into the lounge area seemed pretty bland, as it only had the welcome signs and sparse trees around it. Because of this, it underwent some renovations, where flower and/or water bushes were placed around the roads, giving the area much more color and style.

  • Hotel lounge entrance signs being pushed back to make room for new sidewalk.

Robust Outskirts Roadwork

In the summer of 2019, the outskirts road network was largely expanded. It started with finishing the southern outskirts highway exit, connecting the coastal road to it. From there, the highway was extended south even further, requiring a large amount of tunnel building since there were a lot of hills in the way. The extension wasn’t much, only to more or less how far the coastal road reaches south.

  • Digging for partial tunnels for southern highway extension.

From there, the road crossing the highway in this area was built around the southern part of the town and then connected to the closest roundabout in the town area. The road was also given its own gateway tunnel, with a welcome sign and everything else.

  • Start of extension of road crossing highway in south of town.

The town’s north-side road network was then built by first connecting the northern coastal road to a new roundabout connecting with the road crossing the highway on the south side. Then, a two-lane road was placed to cover up the rest of the free land, allowing structures to be placed throughout the area with adequate road access.

On the other side of the highway, a looping street was built connecting to a roundabout, making room for building houses in a new potential neighborhood.

  • Underground pedestrian tunnels built under town's north highway exit.

Work then moved to the east side of the town. A road behind the hills was built, connecting to a new roundabout. Then, the road going from the hotel grounds towards the east was extended, forming the start of a highway heading straight inland. It was given its own “Welcome” bush sign and some decorations, but nothing compared to the other town highway entrances.

  • Extension of road C3 eastward.

Above-Ground Train Station

Between August 2019 and July 2022, the train station’s above-ground area was designed and built. It took so long simply because the build process during this time was very sparse, though the project itself wasn’t easy.

The bus terminal area was the first to be built, by the summer of 2020. Following that, the main building was built within a period of 2 years. The design ideas have changed quite a bit during this period, thus resulting in a mixed design throughout.

  • Early construction of bus terminal.
