Beach Hotel Map – Build History (3/7)

During this phase, the road network in and near the town started taking shape, along with minor additions to the hotel and surrounding grounds.

Still Going South

Coastal road C3, which originated from the hotel grounds entrance, was extended further inland, eventually going further south than the distance that Highway A14 reached during this time. From road C3, a perpendicular road was built, intersecting it. Eventually, this road was extended eastward, which formed the modern-day outskirts southern highway exit.

Going Far Up In The Hotel

In July 2017, rigorous work took place to make profound progress with the hotel building. The skeleton of the room floors above the current central leisure floors was built, later replaced when copy-pasting via MCEdit was discovered as another option. All three hotel room-type floors were copied and pasted to replace these new upper-floor skeletons.

  • Construction of walls and elevator/stair shafts surrounding present day floors 7 and 8.

Above that, the Mega Hotel Suites finally got a design and were built across all the matching floors, along with their balcony designs. Only the V.I.P. Mega Hotel Suites weren’t designed at this point yet. From here, the common areas near the elevators were built for the 14th to 16th floors, but the rest was left untouched as no plans on what to include on the top floors were made yet.

  • Construction of balconies for Mega Hotel Suites.

Significant Outskirts Work

Work moved back to the town outskirts for quite a while, as there was plenty of room for improvement. First up was a significant anti-desertification of the desert areas surrounding the hotel, where most of the sand(stone) was converted to dirt & stone, and the desert vegetation was removed. The registered biomes were also changed to ensure that the grass wouldn’t look “dead” as it would in the savanna biomes.

The highway then got a further extension to the north. Long tunnels were dug just north of where the highway would go above the modern-day North Gateway Area hills.

After this, the highway bridge going over the river just north of the town center was removed, as a tunnel going under the river would be constructed instead. It was a rigorous task, as the neighboring highway exit made calculating the appropriate road elevations trickier.

  • Start of excavation for construction of new tunnel.

Back Into The Town

The town had basically nothing to offer at this point, so its backbone roadwork was next to be built. The 2-lane roads that currently lie just east of the highway were built, along with their roundabouts. Not much landscaping took place though; extra polishing was done much later in the build.

  • Start of development of road skeleton for town center.

Work then moved back into the hotel, where two extra parking floors were added to the underground parking lot, along with adding a new and more effective ramp design.

Then came a massive overhaul of the coastline through and around the hotel area. The previously steep & mostly deep gravel-ish contour was reshaped to have a much less sloped sand coast, being much more realistic. The task took tens of hours, as many blocks had to be placed with matching patterns.

  • Beginning of renovation of parking floor ramps, starting at top floor.

In November 2017, more work then came for the hotel lounge area. The empty land between the south area of Nick’s beach and the surrounding pathways was occupied with modern-day underground restrooms and shower/change rooms. Accommodating enough space for the restrooms was tough, as the nearby beach didn’t allow for much free space.

Then various other tweaks came for the beach areas. Various outdoor shower stalls were added near the main pathways around the beaches. After that a small underground restroom area was built through a hill in the center of Nick’s beach area.

Robust Work In The Southern Outskirts

At the end of 2017, work moved toward the southern former desert area. The land was covered with grass blocks when converted, so it needed some detailing.

Various vegetation and decorations were placed around the highway in this area, eventually forming the Southern Gateway Tunnel area. Illuminated trees and grass patches were also placed above the nearby hills, making the area somewhat lit during the night. After this, the bushy “Welcome” and “Goodbye” signs were placed, also illuminated.

  • Beginning of work for southern gateway area.
